Location:-

              Kasur town is situated 55 km south of District Lahore. The district lies from30 -40’ to 31—20’ north latitudes and 73 – 38’ to 74 – 41 east longitudes.

      Area:-

             The district has total area of 3,995 square km divided into 3 Tehsils namely Kasur, Chunian and Pattoki having an area of 1,887 , 1,180 square kilometers respectively. It has three Municipal, Committees and six town Committees.

    Population:-

                   The total population of Kasur district was 2375875 as enumerated in March, 1998. The average growth rate was 2.6 percent during the period since March, 1981. The population density is 595 persons per square kilometers.

   Boundaries:-

                    Kasur is bounded on the north by Lahore district, on the east and south –east by India, on the south-west by Okara district and on the north-west by Nankana Sahib (Old Sheikhupura) district.

   Rural and Urban Distribution:-

                                              The urban population was 542391 or 22.8 percent of the total population of the district. There are 637 Mauzas (a smallest revenue unit) in 1998.

  Customs/ Traditions:-

                                   Kasur has a glorious past set in spiritual and cultural traditions, nurtured by Sufi Saints like Baba Bulleh Shah, Baba Kamal Chishti, Shah Inayt, Imam Shah Bukhari, on one hand and by musicians, singers like Ustad Barey Ghulam Ali Khan, Ustad Barkat Ali Khan, Ustad Amanat Ali Khan, Malka-e-Tarrannam Noor Jehan etc. on the other hand. The important cultural events in the district are the Ursof Baba Bulleh Shah and Urs of Baba Imam Shah Bukhari.
