As emerged from the 1998 census the population of district is predominantly Muslim i.e. 95.4 percent. The next higher percentage is of Christians with 4.4 points followed by Ahmadis and Schedules castes each 0.1 percent. While other minorities like Hindu (Jati) etc. are very small in number.
